Arlington Heights, IL–The transition from sweltering summer heat into autumn-time sweater weather brings something different to everyone. For some, it means pumpkin spice lattes, corn mazes, and hayrides. For James M. Taylor, president of a conservative think tank, The Heartland Institute, the seasonal change signals something of a busy season.
“We’re getting ready for showtime, baby. Once that first snow hits, we’ve got enough cold weather ammunition to combat science through next summer,” Taylor shared, taking time from his busy fall preparations to discuss the think tank’s upcoming agenda. “See, the idea is that liberals keep saying the Earth is getting more hotter, but if we’re all like ‘Hey, look at that snow! It’s getting colder!’, then who’s gonna believe all that?”
The Heartland Institute has found itself at the center of climate change discussions for several decades now, in addition to controversial takes on everything from tobacco reform to universal healthcare, and common sense as we know it. It has long been their mission to take a hard stance against scientific, humanitarian, and environmental efforts every step of the way. “If we don’t, then who will?”
